With the increase in the popularity of MTB trails and in particular the entry level and intermediate trail grades, came a new need to assist riders in self assessing their own ability before undertaking a ride. Thus the skills area become a practical and necessary solution:
Dedicated area for riders to develop specific off road bike handling skills.
Allows riders an opportunity to self assess their riding ability.
Allows riders an area to self assess their energy levels, fitness and ability before committing to a longer ride.
Allows riders to gain a feel for the grip levels and the effect the immediate weather is having on the trail tread and the bikes handling.
Allows riders new to a trail centre the opportunity to ride short sample sections of trail to see what local riding conditions are like and how the grading compares to what they are used to.
Training area is close to the trail head facilities, allowing for basic support and a relatively quick response to accidents and emergencies.
Reduces the amount of groups under tuition using the trail system for coaching, reducing congestion and risks.
A progressive skills are will reduce accidents out on the trails and assist your organisation in defending third party claims.
Innovative layouts and concepts, progress rider skill and the sport of mountain biking.
For individuals, all abilities, coaches, school, progressive riding, families and guided groups. Perfect for seasoned rider to warm up and keep skills sharp, ideal for ‘session’ing’ to develop new skills or master difficult skills in an environment close to the visitor centre facilities.
We have designed 11 MTB skills areas to date, including our exemplar design Y Ffowndri at Coed y Brenin in North Wales.
