A feasibility study and option appraisal followed by master planning and full design package for a mountain bike trail system in Colin Glen Forest Park

Working with The Colin Glen Trust and Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland. Cartwright Associates were commissioned to produce a feasibility study and option appraisal followed by master planning and full design package for a mountain bike trail system in Colin Glen Forest Park in West Belfast. Design work included:

  • The design of a 5 km blue graded mountain bike trail
  • A 2 km green graded shared use trail
  • A pump track and skills area
  • Aligning the trails with existing walking trails, existing user groups and the proposed new trail head
  • Identify other recreational opportunities and business opportunities

The Colin Glen MTB Project is very important for the local area, it has real potential to become the catalyst for improving the health and well being of local residents and visitors alike. Due to its city location it has the potential to attract large visitor numbers to the park. The report content will be used to assist in bidding for capital funding.
